Wednesday: A day to slow down and reflect.

I sometimes need to sing Plum to sleep at night.  Sometimes its the last resort in trying to get my persistent girl to just Trust me. Sleep.  You will like it.  Sometimes it works and calms her right down and sometimes it fails along with everything else we may try.

Well I've certainly noticed that my song list is a bit short.  We have our special song "You Are My Sunshine" passed down from my daddy.  Then there is "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (which I someone how manage to sing out of tune).  And then my mind goes blank.  Well recently the following little tune popped in my head but all I could do was hum it (I couldn't recall all the words).

Its going to be a nice addition to our late night medley of lullabies.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

What are some of your favorite lullabies?

  1. there's 3 that have stayed favorites although they all started out as surprises.
Three Little Birds (Bob Marley), Blackbird (Beatles), and It's a Big World Baby (Renee and Jeremy) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-Npu_ly3ZM
Once kiddo asked her therapist to sing Blackbird and she had to ask me what song that was, I thought everyone knew all the Beatles songs
